Getting There and Parking
Located in Banff National Park, Alberta, the lake is about a 2-hour drive from Calgary, with the closest parking option being Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise Parking Lot. From there, it's just a short, smooth walk to the lake's edge.
Parking Cost: Mid-May to Mid-October: CAD 11.70 per vehicle per day, Winter: Free.
Park Pass: Remember, you'll need a valid Parks Canada pass to enter Banff National Park. This can be purchased online in advance or at the park entrance.
Viewing Points
The lake is ideal for enjoying an afternoon with your partner or your children, and many paths and activities are easily accessible and made for everyone's comfort. The main pathway is about a 2-kilometer (1.2 miles) round trip, along the lake, offering gorgeous views of the turquoise waters framed by towering, snow-capped mountains.

Activities and Exploration
While the Lakeshore Pathway is the main trail, there are other ways to enjoy Lake Louise.
Rent a Canoe:
Canoeing on Lake Louise is a unique experience. Rentals are usually managed by the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise Boathouse, costing around CAD 125 per hour for non-hotel guests. If you stay at the hotel, you'll receive a discount.
Take a Scenic Drive:
The Icefields Parkway, which starts near Lake Louise, is one of the most scenic drives in the world. It stretches approximately 232 kilometers (144 miles) to Jasper in Jasper National Park and many viewpoints along the way offer panoramic views of glaciers, mountains, and valleys. For easy photo opportunities along the road, check out Bow Lake, the lower viewpoint at Peyto Lake, and Athabasca Falls.
