Time in Berlin
Hello, dear Lykkers! Have you ever stood in front of a clock and marveled at the dance of time?
In the heart of Berlin, we find the iconic Berlin World Clock, a mesmerizing landmark that showcases the world’s time zones in a vibrant display. Let’s explore this captivating attraction together and share some stories that will inspire our next adventure!
Discovering the Berlin World Clock
Located in Alexanderplatz, the Berlin World Clock, or Weltzeituhr, is more than just a timepiece; it’s a global symbol that connects us to different corners of the world. Built in 1969, it stands tall at around 10 meters, showcasing 24 time zones in a rotating circular design. As we stood there, we watched the clock’s mechanical arms rotate, showcasing the current time in cities across the globe, from Tokyo to New York. It was a surreal experience to see time visualized so dynamically, reminding us of how interconnected we are, no matter where we are.
Vibrant Surroundings and Activities
While the Berlin World Clock is a stunning attraction, it is surrounded by a plethora of activities that make our visit even more exciting. After taking photos with the clock, we explored Alexanderplatz, bustling with life and energy. Street performers filled the area with music, and food stalls offered a delightful range of local treats. One of our favorite finds was a stall selling Currywurst, a popular Berlin dish, perfect for a quick bite while we indulged in the lively atmosphere. The area around the clock is accessible 24/7, making it a perfect stop any time of day.
Nearby Attractions: The TV Tower
Just a short walk from the clock, we couldn’t miss the impressive Berlin TV Tower, or Fernsehturm, which stands at 368 meters tall. We decided to take the elevator to the viewing platform, where we enjoyed breathtaking panoramic views of the city. The tower is open daily from 10 AM to 10 PM, and tickets cost around €23 for adults. We recommend booking online in advance to avoid long queues and to secure our spot for a sunset view, which was simply magical. Watching the city light up as the sun dipped below the horizon was an experience we won’t soon forget.

For our stay, we chose Hotel Indigo Berlin – Alexanderplatz, conveniently located just a stone's throw away from the Berlin World Clock. This chic hotel blends modern comforts with a touch of Berlin’s rich history. With prices starting at approximately €120 per night, we enjoyed spacious rooms, complimentary Wi-Fi, and a delightful breakfast spread.
