Discover Dubrovnik's Charm
Hey, Lykkers! Have you ever dreamed of walking through ancient city walls while the sea glimmers beside you?
Dubrovnik offers that and more, and we’re excited to take you along on our journey! Let’s discover the magic of this coastal gem together.
Walking the Ancient City Walls
One of the most exciting parts of our visit to Dubrovnik was walking along its famous city walls. Stretching nearly 2 kilometers, these ancient fortifications give you panoramic views of the Adriatic Sea and the terracotta rooftops of the Old Town. The walls are open daily from 8 AM to 7 PM during the summer months, with entry tickets priced at $35 for adults and $15 for children. We took our time strolling the path, soaking in the history and breathtaking views, especially as the sun started to set. It’s the perfect way to experience Dubrovnik from a whole new perspective!
A Trip to Lokrum Island
We took a short boat ride to Lokrum Island, a lush paradise just a 10-minute journey from Dubrovnik’s Old Port. The island is a peaceful escape from the city’s bustle, filled with botanical gardens and walking paths. We spent the afternoon exploring its beautiful hidden coves and crystal-clear beaches. Entry to Lokrum is $25, which includes the boat ride. The island is open from April to November, and it’s ideal for a day of swimming, picnicking, or just relaxing under the Mediterranean sun.
Savoring Dubrovnik’s Seafood Delights
Dubrovnik’s coastal location means fresh seafood is a must-try! We couldn’t resist tasting the local specialty, black risotto, made with cuttlefish and its ink, giving the dish its striking color and rich flavor. The price for a plate of black risotto at a local restaurant is about $20, and it’s worth every bite! We also enjoyed grilled squid with a side of seasonal vegetables, a lighter option for around $18. The flavors were fresh and simple, showcasing the best of the Mediterranean.
Stay at the Hotel Excelsior
For a luxurious stay near Dubrovnik’s Old Town, we recommend Hotel Excelsior. This five-star hotel offers rooms starting at $250 per night, with stunning sea views and top-notch amenities. It’s a short 10-minute walk from the city walls, making it a convenient and comfortable option. We loved relaxing by the hotel’s private beach and indulging in the spa after a day of exploring. The service and location made it an unforgettable part of our trip!
