Majestic Teton Views
Hey Lykkers! Are you dreaming of a getaway to the wild outdoors? Grand Teton National Park is a place that promises awe-inspiring views, hidden gems, and unforgettable experiences.
Whether you're an experienced hiker or just looking for a peaceful escape, this destination offers something for everyone.

Exploring the Iconic Teton Range

We've always heard about the grandeur of the Teton Range, but stepping into the park truly brings its beauty to life. One of the best ways to soak in the views is by hiking around Jenny Lake. The 1.5-mile loop is perfect for a leisurely walk or a photography session. For a longer, more challenging adventure, try the Cascade Canyon Trail, which spans 9 miles round-trip and takes you deep into the heart of the Tetons. The trail offers breathtaking views of waterfalls, wildlife, and towering mountain peaks. Be sure to start early, as the trail can get crowded, especially in summer. Entry to the park is $35 per vehicle, and your pass is good for seven days.

Best Places for Wildlife Viewing

One of the highlights of our trip was spotting the wildlife that roams freely throughout the park. Early mornings and evenings are the best times to see animals, as they're most active during these hours. Head to the Mormon Row Historic District for a chance to spot pronghorn antelope, and even moose grazing in the open fields. We also took a drive along the Teton Park Road, where we spotted a bear and her cubs from a safe distance. For the best wildlife experience, bring binoculars and a zoom lens for your camera. Always maintain a safe distance—never approach the animals.

Hidden Gem: The Snake River Overlook

For a truly iconic view, we highly recommend visiting the Snake River Overlook. This spot became famous when Ansel Adams captured his iconic photograph here in the 1940s, and it's easy to see why. The overlook offers a sweeping view of the Snake River and the jagged Teton peaks in the background. It's a popular stop, but for a quieter experience, try visiting early in the morning before the crowds arrive. The road to the overlook is open year-round, and it's free to visit. If you're looking for a peaceful place to watch the sunrise, this is it!

Adventure on the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort

For those seeking a more thrilling experience, the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is a must. We took a ride on the Aerial Tram, which ascends 4,000 feet to the summit. The panoramic views from the top were absolutely stunning, and from there, we hiked along the easy Rendezvous Mountain Trail. For winter enthusiasts, Jackson Hole is a premier ski destination, offering some of the best skiing in North America. The aerial tram operates year-round, with tickets priced at $49 per person for a round-trip ride. In the winter, lift tickets range from $139 to $169 per day.

Where to Eat Like a Local

After a long day of exploring, we were craving some hearty, local food. Head to the famous Dornan's Pizza Pasta Company, located in Moose, for a delicious meal with a view. Located right on the banks of the Snake River, Dornan's offers fresh pizzas and pastas, with a deck that overlooks the river and the Tetons. For a more upscale dining experience, we recommend The Granary, located within the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. They serve delicious locally sourced meals and feature a stunning view of the surrounding mountains.

Practical Tips for Visiting Grand Teton National Park

Before hitting the trails, it's important to know that Grand Teton's weather can be unpredictable, especially at higher altitudes. While summer and early fall are the best times to visit, we recommend packing layers and being prepared for sudden temperature changes. The park can get crowded during peak season, so consider visiting during the shoulder seasons of late spring or early fall for fewer crowds and more affordable accommodations. For camping, there are several campgrounds within the park, but they fill up quickly, so it's a good idea to reserve a spot in advance. If you plan to stay in a nearby town like Jackson, expect to pay around $150-$200 per night for a mid-range hotel.

A Must-Visit Destination

After spending a few days in Grand Teton National Park, we're convinced it's one of the most scenic and exciting places in the U.S. Whether you're hiking, wildlife watching, or simply taking in the views, the Tetons will leave you in awe. Don't forget to take plenty of photos, as every corner offers a new perspective of the stunning landscape!
